PhD Studies in Sinology

Research in Uppsala will soon encompass courses at the graduate level in classical Chinese literature, modern Chinese literature and Chinese literary theory seen from a global perspective. Uppsala University will be the third university in Sweden to offer research in Sinology, joining the universities in Lund and Stockholm, which will broaden and add considerably to the current research environment in Sweden.

The educational programme in Chinese at the Department of Linguistics and Philology has  developed steadily and strategically over the years with courses  in the Chinese language and Chinese culture and society being offered at both undergraduate and advanced levels. The addition of graduate studies has been eagerly anticipated. Currently there is funding in place to release one graduate position, with the hopes of being able to soon release a second position. The plan is to announce the first PhD position during the 2016/2017 academic year.
