Lectures on Natural Language Processing

We present a method for extracting nested (noun) phrases from unannotated text using BERT. Unlike most existing text chunking approaches which divide sentences into sequences of non-overlapping pieces, our method can identify phrases which are embedded in each other to an arbitrary depth. This problem arises, for instance, when trying to automatically generate multiple-choice questions from text. (Joint work with S. Misra).
