Indology — or Indian studies — covers a wide range of subjects related to classical and modern languages, literatures and cultures of South Asia, a region stretching from Afghanistan in the North West to Sri Lanka in the South East, and from the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh in the North East to southern India.
